Supporting equal access to education in Romania
13 October 2020

The UiPath Foundation’s mission is to nurture the tremendous potential of children coming from underprivileged families. The aim is to provide support and equal opportunities to children from vulnerable communities worldwide to access quality education through co-designed educational solutions, focusing on the skills and tools that unveil the highest potential.

Since January 2019, the UiPath Foundation has reached 13,000 underprivileged children through its educational programmes in partnership with local and national non-profit organisations in Romania. Focused on 160 children, aged 11 to 16, the Future Acceleration Programme is a 360 degrees intervention that consists of material support (monthly scholarship, clothes, school supplies), educational support (tutoring, online classes, educational camps) and medical support (regular medical tests, dentistry, ophthalmology).

To complement this effort, the UiPath Foundation is working closely with teachers in underprivileged communities to help them better serve the educational needs of the children. In 2019, more than 1,800 teachers across Romania were trained to apply innovative early education techniques to nurture the potential of children who face poverty. One of the achievements is the development of pilot training curricula for 30 resident teachers in partnership with Teach for Romania, aiming to support the democratisation of Teach for Romania’s expertise in all vulnerable communities across the country. Furthermore, 450 teachers working in poor communities across Romania received scholarships to develop their digital skills and ensure they can provide online educational support to thousands of underprivileged children.

UiPath Foundation takes a systemic approach in tackling underprivileged children’s access to education. While the Future Acceleration Programme aims to dismantle the multiple barriers to education encountered by vulnerable children, we also work extensively with schools and teachers to identify potential in all children. Together, we create the proper context so that all children have equal access to the future.
