Ireland: From investment to developing diverse communities
11 December 2017

The Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies has been operating in Ireland for over 80 years, and together they directly employ 3,725 people across three business sectors: medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer.

Johnson and Johnson operates across nine commercial and manufacturing sites in Dublin, Limerick and Cork. In 2016, Johnson & Johnson invested €161 million across all of its sites. In October 2017 Janssen Sciences Ireland, the pharmaceutical company of J&J, announced a considerable investment in its Cork biologics manufacturing facility. The €300 million expansion of the existing facility will see 450 construction jobs created along with 200 permanent jobs.

In keeping with the Johnson and Johnson credo and ensuring that the J&J Family of Companies have a direct impact on the communities in which their employees live and work, more than €750,000 was spent on philanthropic contributions in 2016 through donations to local charities, employee volunteerism and other community initiatives, touching the lives of people throughout Ireland.

J&J are deeply committed to building a diverse community by mobilising brilliant minds that ignite great ideas. As part of this commitment, J&J currently partners with ten universities around the world to encourage and support female undergraduates enrolling in science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related disciplines. In September 2017 J&J and University of Limerick entered the second year of their collaborative education WiSTEM2D programme. The program is part of a broader effort to accelerate the development of women leaders and support women at all stages of their lives and to improve global health.
